Here's another shot of a view from our garden. H. is growing okra for the first time this year. I never knew okra blooms were so attractive! (I love that color combination.)
Despite the opening of my new store (store-let?), I feel as if I've been taking a little holiday from jewelry, with the end of my competition "season". I think I'm ready to dive back into it now, though. How about you? Here are some links for the week to get you inspired:

I love okra! Fresh from the garden, mm! mm! How do you cook it?
Usually bhaji-style. I think we may be picking them too late, though - they're kind of big! I'm hoping they're not too tough... I'll find out in the next few days...
I had no idea about okra blossoms, either! How cool!
what's bhaji style? Pick them while they are a little bendable, specially the tip, should not snap.
That okra looks so fresh and healthy. I don't really like okra but if it is going to be the fresh I am sure I am going to like it.
Reminds me of that Georgia O'Keefe painting. Next year we'll have to grow okra as well.
Oops, just discovered a bunch of comments I must have missed a few days ago. Sorry! Regina, I don't know what a genuine okra bhaji dish contains, but I have a recipe for a somewhat Anglicized version - basically you season the okra with cumin, turmeric, a green chili and a bit of lemon (and tomatoes). Thanks for the tip on freshness. Alas, our first pick ended up being a mixed bag - several tender ones mixed in with a few woody ones.
